Virtus Tenebris

Tiefling, Paladin / Fighter, Order of Tekk

The leader of the Soul Shepherds.

Background. A female warrior dedicated to protecting her friends and family. Virtus comes from a pedigreed lineage of famous warriors and explorers known as the Tenebris family. Virtus demonstrated from a very young age her leadership capabilities and effortlessly rose through the ranks of the Solari Crusaders, quickly being chosen to become a Solar Scion shortly after.

Sir Tenebris, a Solar Scion and her father, went missing ten years ago in an expedition to find Paradise; this event ignited Virtus and her brother Animus to become Solar Scions and explore the world like their father before them. Despite the absence of her father, Virtus respects her mother Zariel Tenebris, Lord Commander of Astraloftum, for defending the floating capital of the Ecclesia Solari. Her brother Animus is a famous and seasoned Solar Scion that she shares a fierce rivalry with.

Virtus ascended to the Solar Scions and now travels with her group as its leader and shield-maiden. Virtus thinks a fight is the easiest solution to a problem, and the most clear-cut resolution. But she’d rather not risk her team and resources every time the Scions meet some disrespectful punks.

Key Moments & Growth.

  • Is childhood friends with Diallos and Pinot.
  • Despises Vincent of Damocles.
  • Received a Mirror Tower Shield from the great Golem guardian inside the Great Natu Tree as a reward for the Scions’ bravery.
  • While training at the Skysmith Forge, Virtus began forging mithril chains under Hemdall Skysmith II’s tutelage.
  • Was buried alive under an avalanche triggered by Air Hjorgin Stormson during the battle over the Theus Skyfjords — Silas dug her out with his bare hands. She emerged with a permanent facial scar from the crushing ice and led the Scions to victory regardless.
  • Forged her own Adamantine Plate armor from the Adamantine ore recovered during the battle, during the rest period at Sul Kelda-Dhrum.
  • Acquired a Glide Cloak in Janus City during the Saturn arc.
  • Won a fistfight against Thirteen outside the Skysmith Forge after confronting him over his dual loyalty to High Priestess Cetra — her anger wasn’t at his past, but at his ongoing secrecy.

The Tenebris Estate. Returned to find her childhood home transformed into a Solari Crusader training academy under Vincent of Damocles’s direction. Confronted her mother Zariel Tenebris directly, accusing her of being “malleable” under Vincent’s influence — and struck back with the devastating truth that Vincent had auctioned off their father’s Holy Chest to pirates in Janus City. In a rare moment of vulnerability, Virtus appealed not to the General but to her mother, and Zariel responded in kind. Zariel gave Virtus the Tenebris Master Key and arranged a decoy meeting with Vincent to allow the Scions to raid his study.

The Midnight Heist. Led the Soul Shepherds into Vincent’s private study, where they uncovered: a ledger of illegal estate sales, a chilling Death Note of names marked ‘H’ (Harvested?) or ‘P’ (Pending?). Every Soul Shepherd is marked ‘P’; Zariel, Pinot, and Father Ghaspen are marked ‘H’. Armed with this evidence, Zariel began formulating a plan to excise Vincent from the Tenebris legacy. Virtus has since handed the Death Note and ledger to Zariel Tenebris for her mother to use politically.

Amiel’s Trail — Active Lead.

  • Vincent of Damocles claimed “a clue to Paradise is hidden inside the airship” — context unknown, but potentially tied to Amiel’s last expedition notes.
  • Animus mentioned that Amiel had a close friend on Aphra — but only women may enter.
  • The J.T. Holy Mahogany Chest — her father’s sacred heirloom — was successfully recovered from the Cloudbeard Pirates and is now aboard the A.R.K.

Jupiter — Current Events.

  • Stood by Silas’s side with a trusting gaze during the Forvivlad bloodletting procedure on Ribny, prepared to strike Silas down only if he succumbed to his vampiric nature. He didn’t.
  • Participated with Thirteen and Joy in questioning Editor Rupert in the War Room, listening to the Ink-Radio broadcast of Traitor King Dumac.
  • Pressed Rupert on the rumors of King Dumaclath potentially still being alive — Rupert acknowledged the rumors but said he hasn’t devoted resources to investigating.
