Animus Tenebris was born into the esteemed Tenebris Estate, a lineage of legendary warriors devoted to the Ecclesia Solari. Unlike most Tieflings, Animus was born without horns, his face soft and unassuming, traits that set him apart and sowed seeds of insecurity from an early age. To mask his perceived imperfections, he adopted a fierce persona, donning a heavy, intimidating helmet and wielding a colossal two-handed sword named ‘Fomorslayer’ that became an extension of his will.
Animus’s rise to prominence began before his sister Virtus even dreamed of becoming a Scion. A natural leader, he quickly ascended to lead the White Hand, a prestigious group of Solar Scions devoted to Tekk, the Soul-Forger. Known for his incredible strength and mastery of the blade, Animus wielded his weapon with precision and ease, cutting down foes like a tempest of steel.
Despite his outward ferocity, he carried a profound love for his comrades, especially his close friend Carter Moonwing, a brilliant Owlin wizard. Together, they led the White Hand to numerous victories, earning Animus fame across Astraloftum. The Palms of a New Dawn was not just his team—they were his family. Animus cherished each member deeply, their bonds forged through shared trials and triumphs. When a catastrophic event froze the White Hand in a state of temporal stasis, Animus’s world shattered. Though Carter’s experimental Tome of Time may have been the cause, Animus could not bring himself to lay full blame on his friend. Instead, he turned his fury inward, burdened by guilt and the belief that he had failed as their leader. In the aftermath, Animus retreated into prayer and reflection, seeking guidance from Tekk to control the rage festering in his heart. His once-commanding presence became tinged with sorrow, but his resolve only strengthened.
He vowed to save his friends and uncover the truth behind the stasis. With Carter now part of his sister’s group, Animus set out to form a new party, the Palms of a New Dawn, a coalition of Solar Scions and Solari Inquisition soldiers. Their mission: to locate Paradise and unravel the mysteries of time magic at College of Damocles.
Animus has a surprising love for art, collecting carvings of celestial scenes he claims help him center his mind. He often writes letters to his frozen comrades, leaving them at their bedside as a promise that he will one day bring them back. Though Animus carries the weight of his guilt and insecurities, his unwavering determination burns brighter than ever. He is a warrior forged by loss, a leader driven by love, and a Scion striving to be the man his sister and comrades believe him to be. One day, he vows, the White Hand will walk beside him again, and the Tenebris Estate name will stand as a beacon of hope once more.
