Lord Commander of Astraloftum — Mother of Virtus and Animus
Zariel Tenebris is the Lord Commander of Astraloftum and one of its most formidable defenders. The widow (or rather, the abandoned partner) of the missing Amiel Tenebris, Zariel has spent the years since his disappearance holding the city together at great personal cost.
Personality
A woman of iron discipline and suppressed grief. Zariel masks her pain behind the armor of the Lord Commander — a role she performs with genuine dedication. She can be cold and commanding, but beneath that lies a mother who is deeply lonely and terrified of being the only one left holding the Tenebris legacy.
Relationship with Vincent
After Amiel’s disappearance, Zariel entered a relationship with Vincent of Damocles, an old “friend” of her husband. She allowed Vincent to repurpose the Tenebris Estate into a Solari Crusader training academy, convinced by his logic that the estate had become “a museum dedicated to what we lost.”
She was unaware until Virtus confronted her that Vincent had auctioned off the J.T. Holy Mahogany Chest — Sir Amiel’s personal heirloom — to pirates at the Scheppihn Auction House in Janus City.
Turn Against Vincent
Armed with the proof the Soul Shepherds uncovered from Vincent’s study — including a Death Note listing people marked as “Harvested” or “Pending,” with Zariel herself marked “H” — Zariel has begun formulating a plan to excise Vincent from the Tenebris legacy. She summoned him to the Cathedral under a false audit pretense to allow the Soul Shepherds to infiltrate his private study.
She declared: “No stranger will auction off our blood for gold.” She has handed Virtus the Tenebris Master Key.
Role in the Fomorian Invasion
Zariel fought on the front lines of the Fomorian Invasion of Astraloftum, leading the coalition army of Inquisition soldiers and Solar Scions alongside Animus and Liara Cetra. She was gravely wounded by a Chimeron during the battle when Animus was momentarily distracted.
Current Status
Active in Astraloftum. Allied with the Soul Shepherds against Vincent. Planning to reclaim the Tenebris legacy.
