Owlin, Cleric / Wizard, Order of Magi

Background. Esteemed Solar Scion Carter Moonwing is a young Owlin (Child of Jas) wizard who graduated at the top of his class in College of Damocles under the tutelage of the wizened Professor Gobby. Carter suffers from a state of amnesia with gaps in his memory. Sometime in his past, he was bestowed the knowledge to read the extinct language of ‘Rubix’; Carter suspects this is the work of an enigmatic organization known as ‘the Scribes’.

Carter set out with his friends, the Solar Scion group ‘White Hand’, under the leadership of Animus Tenebris to repel the Fomorians wrecking havoc across the Skysea. During his travels, the White Hand experienced a devastating event in which everyone but Carter and Animus became suddenly frozen in time. Carter obtained a dangerous artifact known as ‘the Tome of Time’ and believes he may have accidentally caused his friends to freeze.

Carter joined Virtus Tenebris’ Soul Shepherds shortly after and worked to uncover the mysteries of the Tome of Time and the ‘Rubix Cubes’ scattered across the world.

Carter’s family lives on Astraloftum: his parents Kain & Lisandra Moonwing, his siblings Timmy, Rain, Sera, and his eldest brother Simon Moonwing, the Inquisitor.

Lost in Time. The Carter Moonwing that the Soul Shepherds knew is believed to be trapped in a different Timescape. When the Time Loop on Saturn was ended at the Elephant Spire, a temporal swap occurred. The Carter that replaced him came from an alternate World Line and privately revealed this truth to Silas Clemens, stating he needed Silas and Jaz’Farrah’s help to return to his own timestream. He and Silas had agreed to help each other in secret.

Apostasy & Betrayal. At the Trial of Jaz’Farrah in Janus City, this Carter and Silas enacted a plan: Silas conjured a magical darkness and tore open a spatial rift using a Power Word: Peel scroll, enabling Jaz’Farrah and Talleah Preshons to escape. Carter fled the courtroom alongside Jaz’Farrah and vanished into the sky. He is now classified as an Apostate by the Ecclesia Solari. The SABER agent Thirteen has been tasked with hunting him down.

Key Tensions.

• Was possessed by Magi during the events of the Time Loop and, under divine compulsion, drove a javelin through Silas’s heart. He later used the Magi Tablet to restore Silas’s lost arm — an act of atonement or pragmatism, depending on who you ask.
• Discovered evidence via P-Sowen that Vincent of Damocles has been spying on the Soul Shepherds through a Sol-Phone-like device hidden in P-Sowen’s head.
• Knows that the Rubix Engine is powered by condensed Soul Gems — souls neither alive nor dead, used as harvested energy.
• Is aware that consuming Regalo Fruit fruit prevents a person from being affected by a Time Loop. Changed his gender when they consumed it.

Personal Quests.

Tome of Time — its missing pages were stolen by Jaz’Farrah across multiple loops; some may have been recovered. Secrets of Rubix — the Rubix Engine, the Elephant Spire, and the scattered Cubes are all connected. Return to the Correct Timestream — the alternate Carter’s primary, secret goal.
