When the Martian Imperium and the Mercantile Hegemony’s Golden Navy allied to crush a massive worker’s revolt in the East Skysea, they deployed a massive flying blockade-fortress known as “The Shield.” While the rebellion was militarily outmatched, the Scribes achieved their first legendary feat:
The Story of the First (and Last) Automaton Rebellion. While the battle raged, Scribe Editors infiltrated the fortress’s central command and erased the debt-ledgers of every indentured servant on board: broadcasting the truth of the “Soul-Binding” process used to create the ship’s Automaton guards. This “Story” triggered an immediate internal mutiny. The Shield fell from the skies as its own crew turned against their masters. Though the Scribes suffered heavy casualties during the crash, the scattered records and the legend of the fall freed thousands from the Hegemony’s economic chains.
