Spiritcarving
Ancient Fey-Dwarven Art Form — taught to Diallos by Malon
Spiritcarving is a rare and sacred art of whittling wood from the body of a Titan to create Totems — physical vessels that can hold spiritual energy, encode memories, and serve as conduits between the living and the divine. The practice blends carpentry, prayer, and soul magic into a single meditative discipline.
Origins
Spiritcarving is believed to have originated among the Fey craftsmen of the Gardens of Arcadia before spreading to Dwarven artisan guilds, who adapted it for use in honoring the Titan. It has since become an obscure and nearly lost art, practiced only by a handful of individuals in the world.
How It Works
Each Totem is carved from wood native to a specific Titan, meaning the carver must physically visit each Titan and source the wood themselves. The wood carries the Titan’s essence, and when properly carved with the correct Spiritcarving technique and blessed through meditation, it becomes a Totem — a spiritual object with unique properties tied to that Titan.
Diallos received a journal from Malon cataloging the rare woods found on each Titan, serving as his guide and quest log for completing the full set of Totems.
Diallos’s Totems (Completed)
- Totem of Janus (Saturn) — Carved from Mahogany Titanwood. Captures the duality of the Time Loop trials and the trials of the Soul Shepherds on Saturn.
Totems (Pending)
- Totem of Carapax (Jupiter)
- Totems of all remaining Titans
Malon’s Role
Malon, the Spirit who introduced Diallos to this art, marveled at his finished Janus Totem upon his return to Astraloftum. She expressed her own desire to carve a Janus Totem, and promised to have one ready by his next return.
Connection to Finley’s Staff
Finley’s Staff of the Seasons may be enhanced via Spiritcarving by Diallos, deepening the staff’s connection to the Titans and the spiritual world.
