Running away from her elven family’s responsibilities, Aurelia finds herself on the edge of human civilization, going from village to village, town to town. She seeks the Seelie Court Jewel because it glows in the presence of lies and malice. She wants to prove and redeem herself to her family.
Now she travels alongside the Boneshield Misfits.
Background
Aurelia is an elven princess born in the city of Tārā on the hidden floating island of Ouranoú. Her father was assassinated by a human and her mother became queen following the tragedy. Under Queen Amanté of Ouranoú’s rule, the Tamasoran Elven Kingdoms were unified, but great hatred towards the human race intensified which lead to elves isolating themselves and not intervening with human affairs.
Aurelia was born sheltered and privileged. She always had a thirst for knowledge and always read about different races but never met any besides the elves in Tārā. Her curiosity led her to sneak out of the palace one night, where she wandered into the less fortunate areas of the city. There, she saw that others were not as fortunate as she has been when she saw young elf children working with their parents in the market. This event opened her eyes and led her to sneak out of the palace more and observe the city dwellers.
Everything seemed fine until one day, Aurelia stumbled upon letters exchanged between Queen Amanté and a human assassin which contained evidence of them colluding on the assassination of the late King. Outraged, she confronts the queen in her chambers in hopes of uncovering the truth and exposing Queen Amanté’s lies.
Things did not go well however when the Queen spun the story around and accused Aurelia of being the one who was working with humans to kill the king. Aurelia, who was known to advocate for Elves to start trade with humans and open their borders, was immediately labeled a traitor to the kingdom.
This led to her being accused of treason and stripped of her title. She escaped execution on the promise that she is to never set foot on the hidden Elven island ever again.
This broke her heart but she knew that as long as she’s alive, Queen Amanté’s secret will be too. Aurelia soon encounters people sent by the queen to take her life and hunt her. Paranoid, she disguises herself as a human and jumps from one town to another.
In her travels, she met a wise monk by the name of Abbot Muho who mentioned a rapier that glows in the presence of lies or hidden malice. She then learns that this rapier is called the “Seelie Court Jewel” and comes from the Monarchon of the Court of Arcadia. Determined to prove her innocence and expose Queen Amanté, Aurelia searches for this rapier. Her journey leads her to the town of Boneshield while narrowly escaping people sent by her mother to kill her.
Personality
- She’s naturally a flirt and has learned to use her beauty to get ahead in life ever since her exile.
- Wary of Riqirith because she’s also an elf and if she learns of her true identity, she might believe that she truly is a traitor who killed the late elf king.
- Does not have time for romance because she knows that she can leave town any second but enjoys flirting with Alistair Frey to see Montague Tepes’s reactions
- Very curious about the town of Boneshield but tries not to get too attached.
- She has a hard time building friendships because of paranoia.
