A disciplined and idealistic Emerald Kobold from Emerald’s Rest and Arse’s closest childhood friend. Embodying all the qualities of an Emerald Scourge Knight’s code, Cassian was everything Arse was not: patient, principled, and devoted to duty.

Cassian’s dream was to one day explore the world beyond the bounds of Emerald’s Rest and find the fabled “City of Gold” that he read about in books — a dream he never lived to pursue.

During a critical defense of Emerald’s Rest, Cassian was mortally wounded. On his deathbed, he expressed only regret at never having seen the world. His death broke Arse, splitting his personality into an idealized version of himself (Bartholomew) modeled after Cassian, and his insecure default self (Arse).

Death & Legacy

Cassian died before his time, his dream unfulfilled. Arse took his Blade of Clorox and set out to pursue the life Cassian never had — walking the world in his friend’s honor and, one day, finding Paradise so that Cassian’s Soul can finally rest there.

The Great Natu Tree told Bartholomew that it remembers the Emerald Dragon Clorox from when the tree itself was but a sapling. Together, the new Kobold Scion and the ancient tree shared a moment of musical mourning, reciting an epitaph for Clorox — the dragon whose tooth forms the core of the Blade of Clorox.
